Check me out.... I'm writing a blog! well it's probably about the fifth time I've started blog; but I guess that's kind of part for the course. I'm thinking positive though, this time I hope it will stick.
My posts here will consist of ideas, innovations, and inspirations that I've encountered in the world of education, technology and maybe a little Star Wars.
Here's my first tip: passwords
We all know we SHOULD be changing our passwords often and that we SHOULD NOT use simple, easy to hack passwords. Oh, and NEVER write your password down and leave it on your desk. Well, here's an idea that may change the way you think about passwords... don't use them at all, try a passphrase instead.
A passphrase is a sequence of words or acronyms. This sounds like hugely long entries for logging in, but I am gong to offer this crazy tip... PRINT THEM OUT and then POST IT RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR COMPUTER! Well, not exactly the actual passphrase but images to help your remember. Let me show you an old passphrase of mine. I printed these four images and posted them next to my computer. Each image equals a word, number or acronym in my mind which put together makes a passphrase. So, here is this one.
Image 1) my high school I attended Fountain Valley so that is FV,
Image 2) one of my fav songs. Styx: Come Sail Away so that is the first letters in the song title so that is CSA
Image 3) my town I live in. This pic has the founding date of 1893
Image 4) my college which is NEVADA
So my passphrase is: FVcsa1893nevada
the magic is that it could be the same images and but all different meanings like: baronsstyxrocklin52
And as a bonus you have pictures next to you of some of your favorite things!
