YouTube Tools You Maybe Haven't Thought Of

YouTube truly is amazing.

Did you know that 400 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute?

This service truly has changed the world. Here is an excellent post titled "How YouTube
changed the world" from The Telegraph; including this great quote: "This high-and-low ethos is baked into YouTube’s culture. It’s been lauded for promoting democracy and reenergising education, while being disparaged for its endless cat videos and nasty user comments."

With that being said, I've collected some YouTube tools you may or may not have been aware. If you have any which you like using please drop me a line.

YouTube Red
This is the monthly-paid subscription service by YouTube, which advertising-free streaming of videos,  allows offline and background playback of videos on mobile devices, and access to the Google Play Music service. For me, I am

Turn Off the Lights
This is a chrome extension which allows you to click on the a lamp button in Chrome, which makes the page fade to dark making it easier to focus on the video. Easy to install and run it is one of my favorite extensions. 

Clip Converter
This isn't a post about which videos you should or shouldn't download, but there are at times when you may need a video to use/edit. There are several tools out which I've tried but this one, Clip Converter is my favorite to use. 

Safe Share
Paste your YouTube video into ShareShare and it makes it safe and clean for classroom use. It strips ads and possible offensive content and helps your students stay focused on the video itself. 

YouTube Editor
The YouTube Editor isn't the most robust tool for editing videos but its free and has some of the basic editing tools you will need. I've used it a few times and been able do some basic edits. It ca be fairly limiting but easy to use.

Tube Chop
What does Tube Chop do? It CHOPS VIDEOS! 
Why do you want a chopped video? Well, this is one of the easiest tools to use to cut out parts of the any video you many want to use.
