My "force myself to write and be creative" Blog

Have you heard of Fiverr yet?

If you haven't heard of this service, Fiverr touts itself as
"a global online marketplace offering tasks and services, beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed, from which it gets its name."
Basically, you can find people online to do work for you for as little as $5. Now... paying five bucks can't get you a decent haircut or a bowl of soup, so don't think you are going to have one of Beethoven's symphonies created for this little, but it is an intersting idea of out sourcing work not for big companies but for average everyday folks.

I've tried this several different times with varying degrees of success.

On the disapointing end, I had some logos created for my friend's distributing company which were canned images created from templates which must have took a total of 3 mintues to make.

On the intermediate level, I had my head shot cartoonized (is that a word?). I paid another five for color and here is what I got back. Yes, it a cartoon, but a little off putting and I can't tell why!

But I have had some success.

I worked with a musican in Paris named Daniel Morgan to make an intro to my newest podcast venture called "
Talking Social Studies". Here is his page on Fiverr if you want to check out his work.

This is the request I sent him over the summer:

"Hi Daniel, I am in need of some music as the opening to my new social studies podcast. Would you be interested in doing intro and transition as well for this social studies project? The theme I am thinking would be something like a 'Game of Thrones'. Thanks"

We talked back and forth a little in order for him to make sure he was clear wiht my request and in the end I was SUPER happy with the final project. You can hear this by checking out the podcast using your podcasting app (yes, this is a shameless to get you to listen to this podcast)
Or you can listen to the opening in one of our episodes below:

Just think about how global this project is.... I live in California, record a podcast about Soical Studies with educators from CA, Indiana and Oklahoma, with music created by an Irish musician living in France and downloads from the following countries!

Just crazy when you think about how far we've come! So give Fiverr a shot if you have project you need some help with.
